Citiscapes, LLC
Plant selection in Arizona matters more than most people realize. The wrong plant in the wrong spot looks rough within a season — too much water required, wrong sun exposure, or just not built for Phoenix heat. Citiscapes sources and installs trees, shrubs, and plants selected specifically for Arizona's climate and your yard's actual conditions.
How plant installation works in Arizona: Soil preparation is the critical first step — caliche and compacted desert soil don't give roots much to work with without amendment. Planting holes are dug wide and deep, soil is amended where needed, and root balls are set at the correct height to avoid crown rot. A watering basin is formed around each plant to direct irrigation to the root zone. Drip emitters are placed at the drip line, not the trunk, and adjusted to match the plant's water requirements. Mulching around the base reduces evaporation and helps regulate soil temperature through Arizona summers.
Citiscapes sources and installs trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, succulents, and flowering plants for residential landscapes across Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley. We work directly with reputable Arizona nurseries to ensure we're installing quality, established stock — not plants that have been sitting in a parking lot in direct sun all summer.
Plant selection is a conversation we take seriously. The Phoenix climate supports an enormous variety — from desert natives like palo verde, saguaro, and agave to non-native tropicals that thrive here with the right irrigation. The key is matching plant to placement: sun exposure, soil drainage, proximity to hardscape, and irrigation access all factor in before we recommend anything.
We also consider scale. A well-proportioned planting plan with trees that reach the right mature height and shrubs that fill the right zones without overtaking the space looks completely different from a yard where plants were chosen without thinking about what they become in five years.
Citiscapes plants for the long term. Every install is done with proper soil prep, correct planting depth, and immediate irrigation setup so plants establish quickly and perform the way they're supposed to.

Our backyard was nothing but dirt, weeds, and dog crap for years. I was so embarrassed by it. In fact, I tried to avoid going outside so I wouldn't have to look at it. I really wanted a Gazebo and a small shed, but we needed to get concrete slabs first. So I got some quotes for extending the patio and add room for a shed, and to put in a large 12x12 slab for my Gazebo. I was hesitant to reach out to Citiscapes because the job was so small and I was afraid they would be out of my price range. But their reviews were all great, which made me feel more comfortable about going with them over a smaller company. Joey totally understood my vision. He never made me feel like the job was "too small" and I was actually quite surprised that his quote was in line with what I had budgeted. He even priced out things that I wanted to get done in the future. I was so impressed with their work and Joey's professionalism, I reached out to them again for "phase 2" which involved more concrete, installing irrigation, outdoor tile, and a retaining wall for my plants. Again, it was right on budget! I now have the backyard of my dreams and plan to use Citiscapes again when we are ready to do the front yard. You can see the before and after photos below.
